Wide Fitting Footwear Options

Hi all, hope you are feeling festive and looking forward to xmas - I have been enjoying the forum panto it's very funny Laugh Laugh

I just need a bit of help on finding somewhere to get shoes that are a wider fit. Since having arthritis my arches have dropped considerably and now my feet are wider I am having trouble finding shoes that fit and now most of the shoes I own are much too tight. With the christmas party season upon us I would like to find some quite dressy shoes (even though once I get anywhere I have to spend 99% of the time sitting down as my toes get very painful) I would still like to look as though I had made an effort!

I have my fingers crossed (as long as I'm having a good day and my knuckles are not too sore that is) that some of you RA ladies or even men?? may know of wonderful shops stacked up high with gorgeous wide shoes for me to choose from BigGrin

Any suggestions will be most appreciated

Have you looked at the Hotter site? They do an EE fitting and usually have a bigger "toe box".
If you see plainer ones you like have you thought of buckles or bows or even changing the colour?
Hope this might help but do understand the problems. I have resigned myself to a smile on my face
and laugh in my voice and let others worry whether that my shoes are comfy. Anne

Hi Deb,

We recently had a presentation at our Birmingham group meeting by Lisa Preston who has established Shoemed.

She has many years experience with shoes and echoed many of the points raised by the podiatrist who spoke at our previous meeting.

There's a website gone up, but she told us she's happy for NRAS folks to give her a call for information on shoes available

Hello

I have bought shoes from this site in the past http://www.shoetailor.com/shop/

they do shoes up EEEEE fitting and do shoes which you can make different widths by inserting insoles.

I have also got a very smart pair of standard wide fitting shoes from Clarks. They are very low with a bar across but look really stylish. The Clarke website does free returns so you can order several styles and sizes and send back all the wrong ones.

I am fortunate that my feet are not too bad and don t need extra wide fittings. I only wear flat comfy shoes, couldn t wear heels due to the discomfort even prior to RA days. I buy all my shoes online from Clarks and always wait til they have their sales to buy. I think their shoes are very good value for money -especially when, sometimes, you can get as much as 50% off BigGrin

Hi Deb, I have bought shoes from Hotter but lately have tried widerfitshoes.co.uk, they have shoes from EE fitting upwards. They have a shoe fitting chart to download. Some of the shoes are a bit frumpy but there are a few nice ones in patent leather which look quite dressy. Their shoes are very comfy and they have good returns service. I have also recently bought some EE fitting K shoes in bronze in the Clarks summer sale, they are comfy as well and look quite smart.

hi, i get my shoes from shoe tailor on line or premierman .co uk, as said fittings and styles are really good and get the comfort to try at home with no pressure,lots of fashion and heels height to choose from,good luck

sorry can't help I have been in clarks shoes and the hotter rep for there shoes guy was in there and brought me an array of wide shoes to try to no avail xmags

Hi Deb, I use theshoetailor.com too. They do up to eeee fit. I got a cracking pair of Pavers boots with just a very small wedge in eee fit just before Christmas. They are deeper as well as wider. They still look quite trendy but I can fit my hefty orthotic insoles in to them. Good luck in finding something suitable.
